GCCF provides for the registration of cats and cat pedigrees, classifies cat breeds, licenses cat shows and works to improve the breeding of cats as well as protecting the welfare of cats and the interests of cat owners generally.
Principal activities
GCCF registers cats, provides certified pedigrees and registers breeding prefixes. It appoints show judges, licenses cat shows and verifies and records the titles awarded to cats at these shows. It also organises the annual Supreme Cat Show.
It approves registration policies and standards of points for cat breeds, administers rules governing the breeding and showing of cats and exercises disciplinary powers.
In addition to its Constitution and Rules, GCCF publishes the Standard of Points booklet, show list and many free information leaflets.
Membership 146 affiliated cat clubs (both breed and area)
Individuals may join cat clubs but not the GCCF itself
